IWS Release Notes - February 2014
We strive to keep our products above the industry standard so that your systems remain current and flexible. For that reason, we make continuous improvements to BriteCore's code base. We've been experimenting with a continuous release process, and we'll be shifting to this to better reflect our daily improvements. Rather than waiting for the all-clear of many items to go out in one weekly release, you'll receive continuous updates for code changes going out in the daily release. Items that require full release notes for this month can be found in this section of the BriteWiki.

Agency Experience Report
Funded by Several BriteCore Clients
Several clients in the community have teamed up to sponsor the development of the newly completed Agency Experience report in BriteCore. This year-to-date report runs automatically at month-end and groups all premium and claims data together by agency and per line of business. This allows companies to compare the monthly performance of each agency, as well as each line of business.
To view Agency Experience reports at month-end, go to BriteCore > Reports > Attachments and click on the folder for “Month-End” reports. Inside this folder you’ll see a link for the Agency Experience zip file. Click on this file to download and view its contents. You’ll see three different report types inside this file...Click the links below for more information:

- Agency Experience Reports
- Audit Reports
- Company Report
- Calculating Loss Ratios
- Running the Report Manually
A BIG thank you goes out to all of the companies who helped fund the development of the Agency Experience report in BriteIdeas. We're proud to be in business with such a supportive group of insurance and technology enthusiasts.

Updates to Payoff Amounts Report
Currently in BriteCore, the “Deferred Premium” column inside the Payoff Amounts report displays each policy’s deferred premium (premium written but unpaid) plus future fees. To better clarify the data being reported in this column, we’ve renamed the column “Deferred Premium and Future Fees”. We’ve also added a new column to the report for deferred premium without future fees. This column is now referred to as “Deferred Premium”.
We’ve also improved the Payoff Amounts report by updating the dates through which payoff amounts are being reported. Now, when the report is run automatically at month-end via the monthcron, the system will report payoff amounts from the first day of the month to the last day of the month for the current reporting month.
Prior to this change, payoff amounts for policies with effective dates on the first day of the next reporting month were included on the current month’s report. Future reports generated automatically will display policies with effective dates in the current reporting period only.

Modifications to Group Order of XLS Reports
Per client request, IWS has updated the sort order of policy types inside several stock reports in BriteCore. These reports were previously grouped by policy type name, causing policy types present in multiple states to be combined on a single line. Policy types were also split across Lines Effective Dates resulting in multiple listings for the same policy type.
For example Homeowners Form 2, OH (inside effective date 01/01/2013) and Homeowners Form 2, OH (inside effective date 02/01/2014) were reported on separate lines. In order to address this behavior, policy types are now grouped by name+state and Lines effective date inside the following reports:
- Advance Premium
- Claims Payments
- Losses Incurred
- Paid Premium and Fees
- Payments Received
- Premium Running
- Premium Written, Earned & Unearned

Disabling Sections in BriteQuote
A new setting option has been added to BriteCore > Settings > Modules > BriteQuote > Options that allows carriers to enable or disable any or all of the following sections in the BriteQuote Agent/Agency Portal:
Once a BriteQuote section has been disabled from view in the Agent/Agency Portal, users cannot access the section until a mutual employee re-enables it from within BriteCore. To enable or disable sections in BriteQuote:
- Go to BriteCore > Settings > Modules > BriteQuote.
- Scroll down to the Options section.
- Find the section labeled “Disable Sections in BriteQuote”.
- Select the checkbox next to each available section you’d like to disable.
- Remove the checkbox next to each available section you’d like to enable.
As shown in the screen shot below, we’ve chosen to disable the Payments, Stats, and Settings screens from the BriteQuote Agent/Agency Portal:
As a result of our selections, the following screens can no longer be accessed from the BriteQuote Agent/Agency Portal. Additionally, each header icon that represents a disabled section in BriteQuote is displayed in gray. Users can view these icons from inside the Agent/Agency Portal, but they will not be allowed to access them or their associated screens (Payments, Stats, Settings).

Filtering “Documents” Tabs in BriteQuote
A new setting option exists in BriteCore to allow carriers to modify the display functionality of BriteQuote’s agent Policies > Documents and agent Claims > Documents so that agents can view a pre-filtered list of organized files inside the Agent/Agency Portal.
Currently in BriteQuote, users are able to view and print all policy/claim documents uploaded to the BriteCore > Policy/Claim > Attachments screens, regardless of whether or not those documents have been printed and/or sent to the agent. For some agents, sorting through multiple versions of policy documents can be confusing. We’ve worked to reduce that confusion by providing carriers with a setting to constructively filter the BriteQuote > Documents interfaces.
When the setting to “Only display printed deliverables in Policies and Claims ‘Documents’ page” is in use, only the files that have been manually uploaded to BriteCore or contain a status of “Printed” appear inside the Documents tabs of BriteQuote Agent/Agency Portal. Filtering of these file sets effectively eliminates the display of future invoices and documents generated in error, ensuring your users are accessing only information that’s relevant.
Note: If your agents were using the Documents tab to look up future payment information on active policies, please encourage them to start accessing that information from the policy’s Accounts Receivable screen in BriteQuote.

Updates to the Secure Checkout Screen
We’ve updated the redirect link for the “Back to Website” button on BriteCore’s Secure Checkout screen. This button previously redirected users to the carrier’s website rather than to the Agent/Agency Portal. Now when this button is clicked, users are sent to the policy’s Accounts Receivable screen so they can continue their work in the Agent/Agency Portal.
Accessing the Secure Checkout Screen
To access the Secure Checkout screen from the Agent/Agency Portal, go to Policies > Accounts Receivable and click the “Make a Payment” button at the top of your screen. You’ll then be directed to BriteCore’s Secure Checkout screen where you can apply a payment to the associated policy. To return to the policy’s Accounts Receivable screen from the Secured Checkout, click the “Back to Website” button in the top-left corner of the screen.

Widened BriteQuote’s Claim Number Field
We’ve widened the “Claim Number” field––located on the main Claims screen in BriteQuote > Claims > Claim Search––so that fourteen-character claim numbers display properly on the screen when users search for a claim.

Added Payment and Loss Totals to BriteQuote’s Accounting Tables
We’ve added payment and loss totals to the following two accounting tables displayed inside BriteQuote > Claims > Individual Claims > Accounting. These claim totals were already available for view in BriteCore, and therefore have been styled and formatted the same inside of BriteQuote.
- “Payment History” table (total payments)
- “Losses Incurred table” (total of losses)
