We strive to keep our products above the industry standard so that your systems remain current and flexible. For that reason, we make continuous improvements to BriteCore's code base. We've been experimenting with a continuous release process, and we'll be shifting to this to better reflect our daily improvements. Rather than waiting for the all-clear of many items to go out in one weekly release, you'll receive continuous updates for code changes going out in the daily release. Items that require full release notes for this month can be found in this section of the BriteWiki.

Reliable Reports Integration

BriteCore is now integrated with Reliable Reports, a property/casualty insurance inspection and reporting bureau. Starting tomorrow, the client-funded integration between BriteCore and Reliable Reports will allow employees and agents to order inspections through Reliable Reports when there's a property address present and validated inside of BriteCore.

Side Note: Users no longer have to create a new revision in BriteCore in order to request an inspection or add "Next Inspection Dates" to policies. This is true for all third-party inspection and reporting bureau vendors integrated with BriteCore.

New Web Utility

There's a new web utility in BriteCore called Retrieve Receipts that allows clients to pull receipts of payments from the BriteCore interface any time they misplace their original receipt. Like most of the BriteCore web utilities, this utility is locked down to the 'Administrator' role, so only those who have administrator logins can retrieve receipts from the Utilities screen.

Using the Retrieve Receipts Utility

To use this feature in BriteCore click on the Utilities icon located in the top-right corner of your home screen. This will direct you to the BriteCore Utilities page where you can view the list of web utilities, including the Retrieve Receipts.

When you're ready to run the utility, click on the Retrieve Receipts link. Then, in the Number box, type the number of receipts you wish to retrieve and click Submit. BriteCore will then pull the most recently added DCR / Sweep Payment receipts up to––and including––that number.

New Dynamic Text Tag

We've added a new dynamic text tag to BriteCore called {inception_date} that can be placed in all user-defined text areas to pull the policy's inception date onto any deliverable in BriteCore. This tag was funded through BriteIdeas and will be available to all clients starting tomorrow.

Using the {inception_date} Tag

Carriers can use this tag to acknowledge the length of time an insured has been with their company by adding a "Policyholder Since: {inception_date}" line to their deliverables. This can give policyholders a sense of pride by showing them that their patronage and loyalty is appreciated. You can add the {inception_date} text tag to your deliverables in Settings > Deliverables > edit deliverable(s).

Custom Fee Commission Calculations - Hard Error (Fixed)

IWS recently released a commissions calculation fix that applies to clients who issue refunds for custom fees earned pro-rata. Previously when a policy canceled, the system would incorrectly issue commission on a portion of the custom fee. We've corrected this behavior so custom fees returned to the insured no longer increase the commission paid to the agent.

Documentation Update for Country Selection

In a previous issue of release notes, we advised users that they could manually enter the city and state/province for out-of-country addresses when "Other" is selected from the contact's Country drop-down box. However, both city and state cannot be filled in, just the city. We've updated our documentation with the following information to more accurately describe the system's behavior.

Selecting 'Other' as the country removes zip code validation restrictions and allows users to manually input the address > zip code and city. It does not allow users to manually input a state or province. Instead, users must choose a state or province from the existing list of states/provinces in BriteCore.

Endorsement Wizard Update

Due to feedback from clients and internal conversations regarding client processing procedures, IWS is holding the Endorsement Wizard release until further notice.

Members of management are in agreement that the wizard will ultimately make processing changes in BriteCore more efficient. However, in its current state, the Endorsement Wizard does not yet meet the requirements and expectations of our staff and clients. Additionally, the initial SRS for this change request––completed before the implementation of BriteIdeas––lacks proper collaboration and input from our users. Before moving forward with development, IWS will update the initial SRS with information gathered from the BriteCore user community.

In the meantime, we're releasing a small component of the Endorsement Wizard (the Commit Revision pop-up screen) so that users can view a summary of premium and fee changes prior to committing the policy endorsement in BriteCore. For more information, view the Commit Revision Pop-Up notes below.

Commit Revision Pop-Up

Starting Tuesday, a new pop-up screen called Commit Revision will be available in your BriteCore site. This screen appears any time a user commits an endorsement revision in BriteCore that's not the first initial or renewal revision on the policy.

When the Commit Revision button is clicked, a summary detailing the premium and fee difference(s) between the endorsement revision and the prior revision is displayed along with a list of system-generated notes that accompany the change.

Release Has Been Scheduled for Monday, June 10th

The following items have been scheduled to go out on the night of Monday, June 10, 2013. We're sending release notes early for these changes so that you can communicate them with your staff prior to the official release.

New Country Selection Field

We've added a new Country selection field to the contact pop-up boxes in BriteCore and BriteQuote. By default, these Country selection fields are set to "USA" and contain another selection option for all "Other" countries.

The "Other" country selection option should be used any time the contact's address lies within any country other than the USA (e.g., addresses that contain Canadian provinces as the "state" should have "Other" selected as the country).

Note: Changing the country to "Other" will not change the format of the address entry fields (City, State, Zip Code) in BriteCore or BriteQuote. It will, however, take away validation restrictions for the zip code input, allowing you to manually enter the city and zip code for the out-of-country address. (The system does not allow you to manually input a state or province. You must choose a state or province from the existing list of states/provinces in BriteCore.) To re-implement the zip code validation code, you'll need to change the country selection back to "USA".

The new Country selection drop-down box has been added to the following:

  1. New Contact pop-up box in both BriteCore and BriteQuote
  2. Edit Contact pop-up box in BriteQuote
  3. Contacts > Addresses > pop-up box in BriteCore

New Data Source for Zip Code Validation

BriteCore is now using a new data source for zip code validation. Previously, we used data provided by the United States Postal Service, but we found that not all counties were included in certain zip codes when using the USPS. We've since switched to Zip-Codes.com, which is a more inclusive Multi-City and Multi-County data provider.

Additionally, BriteCore zip code fields now accept and store up to nine digits (Zip Code + 4). However, when validating the zip codes, the system only looks at the first five digits (e.g., 65806) and disregards the rest.

New Status Icon in Attachments (EC2 Clients Only)

We've recently added a new animation icon to BriteCore > Policies > Attachments that indicates the upload status of newly generated BriteCore deliverables. This black, double-arrow icon appears next to deliverables when they're first being uploaded and remains spinning on the screen––next to the deliverable––until the deliverable is fully generated and ready to be viewed.

Users cannot view the generating deliverable until the spinning status icon disappears from the screen. If a user attempts to open the deliverable while the status icon is still spinning, the system will issue a pop-up message that states, "This attachment is still processing, please wait."

Note: You'll only receive the above pop-up message when trying to view a generating document from the policy's Attachments screen. You won't receive this same message if you try to view a generating invoice using the magnifying glass on the policy's Account History screen.

NY State Regulation 154 Reports

IWS now provides the following reports for clients affected by New York's state Regulation 154. These reports are available upon request and require the proper mapping of Reg 154 vendor tags.

  • Regulation 154 Report - This report is designed to display Policies in Force and Producer Data by County and Zip Code in the format required by the state of NY.
  • Regulation 154 Detail Report - This report displays lists of policies that make up the totals represented in the state-formatted Reg 154 report.

New Setting Controls Electronic Submission of Apps

A new setting has been added to BriteCore > Settings > Modules > BriteQuote that enables companies to allow or disallow electronic submission of BriteQuote applications. This setting was created for clients who want to acquaint their agency force with BriteQuote prior to allowing them to submit their policy applications electronically via the Agent Portal.

By default, your system is set to "Allow electronic submissions of BriteQuote applications" so that agents can continue completing and submitting applications electronically through BriteQuote––assuming your company uses BriteQuote.

Important Notes

  • This setting applies to all Lines and thus is not definable per LOB.
  • This setting does not affect your current processes unless you opt to manually disable the setting in BriteCore.
